Great visit to the Jacquemart André Museum
We ended up with a healthy group of 25 parents taking a tour around the stunning Jacquemart André Museum last Friday.
Edouard André & Nellie Jacquemart assembled an extraordinary collection of artworks - particularly refreshing because they only bought stuff that they liked! It is displayed in their beautiful 'hotel particulier' on Boulevard Haussmann. After a guided visit of the regular collection, spiced up with salacious details of Edouard André's private life, a large group of us had lunch in the gorgeous dining room.
Unfortunately the picture doesn't show the lovely Tiepolo fresco on the ceiling, complete with monkey tale curling over the ceiling mouldings. However, we do have a pic of the dessert trolley!
After lunch, those with remaining stamina took a tour of the current special exhibit - a wonderful collection of Van Dijk portraits.
A highly recommended visit.
